ABIM CONDEMNS LONDON BLASTS

The Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM) strongly condemns the violent assault on the citizens of London on the 7th of July 2005. We stand united with every sincere and well-informed world citizen in this condemnation. The bombings that occurred at several public places in London were barbaric, despicable and inhumane. We are disgusted and outraged by such indiscriminate destruction and death caused by the perpetrators. These people whoever they are, are clearly desperate criminals and we hope that a thorough and fair investigation will establish justice and the perpetrators will be punished soon.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Queen Elizabeth II, The British Government, The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, and all residents of the city of London. We wish to express our deepest condolences to the victims, their families, friends and colleagues.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims of this insane and criminal attack. We hope that the people of Britain see through this and continue good relations with Muslims and people of other faiths. We also hope that they will not be affected by the rantings of a few bigots who may use these events to place a wedge between communities and sow the seeds of global violence. Terrorism, war and violence must never be tolerated as outlets of frustrations nor as means of conflict resolution in the hands of any individuals, groups or nations. Now is the time for nations and religious communities to further strengthen their unity in their efforts to confront violence and build long-lasting global peace.
